Stuck in the rain...

A good trip gone south...literally.

Monday evening, October 6, 2008, the traveling crew set out from East Deer, PA for an overnight drive to Atlanta, GA for a round of meetings in the south. The trip, overall, went very well - easy drive with great company. We arrived in Atlanta around 11:30 yesterday (October 7) morning for an aftenoon full of meetings with clients in the area. The evening brought with it news that our meetings were cancelled for today, so we decided to travel north for home a day early. We did a brief 40 mile trip north of Atlanta so as to avoid rush hour city traffic and found a very nice Cracker Barrel that would allow us to park overnight in their secured, gated parking lot. (Thank you to all of the staff at Cracker Barrel in Braselton, GA!)

We woke up this morning and took our time getting ready to leave, and finally hit the road around 9:30AM, driving through what is being reported as a wet rain front covering the entire Eastern US. After about an hour or so of driving, the windshield wipers (the ones which were 'fixed' a week ago) stopped working. We are now stopped about 100 miles north of Atlanta, waiting out the rain in our own mud puddle.

Toledo or bust!

Well, we pulled into the parking lot of a WalMart in Toledo around 4:30 this morning after a very easy and relaxing five hour drive West from Pittsburgh. Currently presenting at a local hospital, lunch and then another trip home. The 'office' is working perfectly right now...towels are being washed in the washer/dryer as I write this. Going to catch some more zz's before hitting the road again today...will update more.

There is no better way to travel...at least I am convinced!

Service Day, take two

Well, the office traveled back to Duncansville today for the second round of service - the generator was fixed as well as the front speaker which we thought was blown out. Unfortunately, the wrong speaker part was ordered, but when they speaker was actually checked, there was nothing wrong! There was a lot of saw dust from something loaded into the speaker itself, so a simple cleaning fixed the job. Now we have perfect sound and running A/C so life is good!

I took the opportunity to visit Blair Count Ball Park in nearby Altoona after service to catch a little of the PIAA State Championship baseball game - a beautiful ball park on a beautiful day - the perfect way to start the weekend!

Setting back on the road now to get supplies for next week's trip to Ohio, and then home...hopefully ahead of the nasty weather Pittsburgh is supposed to receive today!

More updates soon!

Service Day

Hello from the road. We are currently on the road - heading back to the dealer for service on a few things that just are not working right with the 'office' like the satellite TV and the air conditioning. This is my first 'trip' in the office and it seems to be working out great so far thanks to an air card from Verizon!

More info to follow...happy Monday!

Up and Running!

Well, I just got a report that Shamu (the mobile office - RV) is the best purchase that we have ever made...and believe me we have made many! She is due back in town tomorrow afternoon around 5, and we will have a full report once docking has taken place!

Growing Pains

Well...the office is on its' first trip to the 'North County' in New York to make a few client calls. Of course, we just took delivery of the beauty on Friday, so knowing how to operate a complete home on wheels takes some time. I am not on the road for this trip, but just got the call to schedule service for next week on it! For now, our traveling team is 'suffering' with not a/c and no television. The only thing that I noticed before the trip took off was a blown-out speaker over the front passenger seat. Did I mention that I need to get some body work estimates taken care of as well? This is going to be a fun and interesting journey, and I am glad that you are all along to take part in it with us!

Hello and Welcome

Hi! We set this blog up for the traveling staff of American Healthcare Solutions, as we now have officially gone 'on the road' with the purchase of our mobile office - a 2008 Newmar KountryStar RV. We plan on keeping you all updated with our current locations, tips and tricks for working and surviving on the road, and the current state of our new mobile office (currently clean, and slightly dented...and in upstate New York).

Hopefully you will find this somewhat informative and amusing - we will try to post as often as we can!
